I don't know if Drive By Truckers had this in mind when they wrote "Too Much Sex, Too Little Jesus," but they must have. I don't see any way around it.
I seen DBT perform their song, no doubt about its origins. Skeeter Davis also recorded this in the late 60's early 70's
