Ah, another Troy Hess release -always a cause for celebration. It looks to be one of his early releases. All in all it's a little rough , but the talent he later so prominently display in his mega hit "Please Don't Go Topless, Mother" is quite apparent.
What about Janalyn, is it a Benny Hess owned label?
Bruce..Greetings from the Lone Star State. ..just for the record, I was 2 yrs, 9 mnths old when I recorded "The Ballad of Troy Hess", so please, cut me some slack, ..or not, ha! And just an FYI, I was barely 2yrs old when I performed on stage for the 1st time with Bob Wills & the Texas Playboys. Then I would go on to perform on stage with Ernest Tubb,Johnny Cash,..& even opened for Dolly & Porter. When I was in my 20's, Columbia records paid for a demo on me as a prospective artist & I recorded "Wild Horses" which was produced by Blake Mevis (who had already produced the 1st 2 albums on George Strait) & the song was later covered by Garth Brooks, using my arrangements! Don't even let me mention my band Zebra Three that I headed up in the late 90's which opened for bands like "The Days of the New" or that Z3 was later tapped by Warner Bros. Pictures for consideration to do the soundtrack song for the "Starsky & Hutch" movie. There's SO MUCH more I could tell you, but you'll have to wait for the book I'm working on! Oh & if you get the chance, pick up a copy of the BBC's "ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE: Makin' Monnshine" which recently came out on dvd & was recorded in the mid 70's..it features a very young (10 yr old) Troy Hess along w/ my dad Bennie.
