Great 45!

You can check out all there is to know about Roy Cost and the Music Shoppe at his website http://www.roycost.com/history.htm

There's another cut, a great sounding 60's number, and a picture of the group as well as some more information here

Good to have Francis back picking her favorite 45s for us!

I have known Roy 40+ years. He is a class act. He was also an educator and was my elementary school principal. I have all of his 45's and have posted some of his work with the Shadows on E&M He had a regional hit with a song called East of Tulsa which I think I have posted previously. The Flip was a song called Are You Really My Girl which was recently reissued on Vol 3 of the compilation series Psych of The South. Roy is also in the Rockabilly Hall of Fame

In his biography I read he was a principal, can't believe he was your principal - great! Do you remember him performing at all at the school?

He really perform at school. We moved a piano into the Gym one time and he played a rousing version of Last Date on it. and I remember him having a Gibson guitar in his office at we would bug him enough every now and then and he would do a song just to get us out of his hair. After the music shoppe came and went he formed a band called Autumn Mist that featured a female vocalist named Judy Cupit. He also released a couple of singles in his own name. As I said he is a top notch guy. He is still active in writing and recording and performs locally.
